In a press release issued on Monday, Invicta FC has announced plans for their next event which will take place live from the Hangar at OC Fair in Costa Mesa, CA. on Saturday, January 16th. The event will feature two title bouts including Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino taking on Russian Grappler Daria Ibragimova for the Invicta featherweight title as well as a strawweight title fight between champion Livia Renata Souza taking on DeAnna "The Argentinian Assassin" Bennett.
For Ibragimova, this will be both her first bout in Invicta as well as her first fight outside of Europe. Her record currently stands at 9-1, yet has only defeated two opponents that currently hold a winning record. Her lone loss is to Justino's previously planned opponent, Belgian grappler Cindy Dandois. Cyborg is currently on a four-fight win streak in which her last two bouts have ended in less than a minute.
Souza and Bennett have identical records at 8-0, with Souza claiming the title from former champion, the recently retired Katja Kankaanpää in April of 2014. Bennett also defeated Kankaanpää this past September, and has beaten notable fighters Michelle Ould, Sharon Jacobson, Colleen Schnieder, Norma Rueda Center, and winner of The Ultimate Fighter season 18 - Team Rousey vs Team Tate, Julianna Peña
