At UFC 188, Fabricio Werdum choked out Cain Velasquez to become the new heavyweight champion. One of the storylines out of the fight was how the historically terrific cardio of Velasquez seemed non-existent in this fight. Some pointed out Velasquez failed to adjust to the high elevation and thin air of Mexico City, and the term "Sea Level Cain" was created.
Well good news! Werdum and Velasquez are having an immediate rematch on Super Bowl weekend in Las Vegas, where the elevation is about 2,000 feet above sea level along the famed Las Vegas Strip. So think of it was Werdum vs. ".38 Mile High Cain". This is your UFC 196 main event for February 6th. The only other confirmed main card bouts are welterweights Johny Hendricks vs. Stephen Thompson, and heavyweights Roy Nelson vs. Jared Rosholt. Because if there was one thing fans were looking forward to, it's another Jared Rosholt PPV main card appearance.
Here's a look at the announced matchups for this event, once again noting only the top 3 fights are set to be on the PPV:
Fabricio Werdum vs. Cain Velasquez
Johny Hendricks vs. Stephen Thompson
Roy Nelson vs. Jared Rosholt
Rafael Cavalcante vs. Ovince Saint Preux
Mike Pyle vs. Sean Spencer
Josh Burkman vs. K.J. Noons
Noad Lahat vs. Diego Rivas
Damian Grabowski vs. Derrick Lewis
