It was stated earlier that the likely options for Conor McGregor following his big win at UFC 194 would be a move up to challenge for the lightweight belt, or a title defense against Frankie Edgar. A former heavyweight champ in Junior dos Santos was asked about Jose Aldo not getting an immediate rematch, and he doesn't seem to happy about it.
"I think that's the most unfair thing ever," Dos Santos said on a recent periscope session. "Because how can they give Cain Velasquez a rematch, how can they give Ronda Rousey a rematch, and they will not give Jose Aldo?"
"The one who most deserves a rematch, they're not giving him this rematch. That's unbelievable!"
Rousey was dominated and head kicked at UFC 193, but is expected to get an immediate rematch against Holly Holm, likely at UFC 200.
Velasquez on the other hand, will have another rematch under his belt come February. He initially lost his belt against Dos Santos at the inaugural UFC on FOX card in just 64 seconds, and earned another crack at the belt within a year after he beat Antonio Silva. Cain lost his title a second time against Fabricio Werdum, and will get an immediate rematch despite being dominated both on the feet and on the ground against the Brazilian.
Is the UFC unfairly treating a longer reigning champion in Jose Aldo? Or is it simply a business move that favors their cash cows?
