An MMA fighter in Texas is going to jail for a long time partly because authorities deemed his hands to be "deadly weapons" due to his skills. 27-year-old Jamual Parks of Arlington, TX was charged with aggravated assault using a deadly weapon (his fists) after an incident in 2013 where he beat a friend to the point where he was hospitalized.

There's more to it than that though.

According to a report from Texas ABC affiliate WFAA, Parks threw his friend threw his friend through a dry wall, and also assaulted a female police officer that was called to the scene:

"He was on top of me, hitting me with his fists multiple times," she said at Parks' sentencing hearing, recalling the terror. "I'm trying to do everything I can to keep myself alive."

The judge believed that Parks was on drugs based on the unusual nature of the attacks, and sentenced him to six years in jail.

While we have been unable to independently confirm at this time that this is the same person, there is a Jamal Parks of the same age from Arlington, TX in Sherdog's Fight Finder.  He is a member of Team Takedown and is 5-1 in MMA competition, and was a two-time All-American wrestler at Oklahoma State. His last fight was a knockout loss in RFA in February.
