UFC Seoul fighter goes from slight underdog to more than 4-to-1 betting favorite

New, comments

Leo Kuntz has spent the entire week as the betting underdog ahead of his UFC Fight Night: Henderson vs. Masvidal bout against Tae Hyun Bang. That has changed drastically within a 1-2 hour span.

We're just hours away from UFC Fight Night: Henderson vs. Masvidal in Seoul, South Korea, and there's been an interesting gambling development involving one of the preliminary card matchups. Tae Hyun Bang opened as a favorite (no more than -210 across various betting syndicates) against Leo Kuntz, and was still listed as the favorite as recently as yesterday, but that is no longer the case. Within the past few hours, lines have shifted substantially in Kuntz's favor. Using the Best Fight Odds timeline tool, check out how Kuntz has gone from a slight underdog to as high as -475 (with Bang at +385) as of just before 10 PM ET on Friday night.

As you can see by the timeline, the dramatic change in the betting lines for Bang vs. Kuntz happened largely within a 1-2 hour timespan between 8-10 PM ET. The mean betting odds had changed 61%, 90% for Kuntz (obviously in opposite directions). One can only be left to speculate what insider information led to a rush of money coming in for Kuntz, but an injury to Bang seems to be the prevailing suspicion. Nothing has been disclosed as of this writing, so it's a wait-and-see game until the prelims begin at 5 AM ET.
