Dos Anjos: 'It would be great' for Ronda Rousey to come to Kings MMA

New, comments

Ronda Rousey to Kings MMA? UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos thinks it would be a great idea for her to join the team.

There's been much speculation as to whether or not Ronda Rousey should stay at Glendale Fighting Club following her crushing loss vs. Holly Holm at UFC 193. GFC head coach Edmond Tarverdyan has come under fire for the development (or lack thereof) of Rousey's striking, his cornering performance during the Holm fight, which included telling Rousey's 1st round was "beautiful", as well as his post-fight comments that Holm wasn't outstriking Ronda.

Kings MMA, home to UFC champions Fabricio Werdum and Rafael dos Anjos, has been mentioned as a potential landing spot for Rousey should she part ways with Tarverdyan. In fact, dos Anjos is more than receptive to the idea of Rousey coming to train there, and believes that she'll become champion again if she joins Kings MMA. (Via MMA Fighting)

"I think it would be great for her to come here," Dos Anjos said. "We have a great energy here. Not just because I'm training here, but Master Rafael Cordeiro has over 28 years of experience in MMA. It would be great for Ronda.

"For sure, we're going to have a great camp for her here. Great training partners. Great coaches. Master Cordeiro is going to have a great fight gameplan for her. If she comes, she'll have everything she needs to get her belt back."

In addition to boasting two UFC champions, Kings MMA has also seen Beneil Dariush develop into a top 10 lightweight, and Pedro Munhoz become one of the top bantamweight prospects. Cordeiro in particular has been praised for the drastic improvements in the striking abilities of several of his fighters, including Werdum and dos Anjos, who were predominantly BJJ specialists who started out their UFC careers anything but threatening as strikers.

Dos Anjos also rest assured that any potential issues involving Rousey running into Cris Cyborg, who occasionally trains there, can be resolved.

"We can make it work," Dos Anjos said of Cyborg co-existing with Rousey. "I think, on my part, [Rousey] is always welcome here."

Meanwhile, Rafael dos Anjos has his first lightweight title defense coming up in less than a month, as he faces Donald Cerrone in the main event of UFC on FOX 17 in Orlando, Florida on December 19th, in what will be the final UFC bout of 2015.
