The UFC made their debut in Monterrey, Mexico on Saturday night for UFC Fight Night 78, and although the event as a whole didn't live up to expectations, the main event surpassed expectations and the card featured a handful of exciting finishes, as well. It wasn't the best night in combat sports history but after it was all said and done, there were definitely a few fighters that deserved an extra post-fight bonus for their performances.
Neil Magny and Kelvin Gastelum won Fight of the Night honors and took home an extra $50,000 for their amazing main event. The bout was action packed for 25 minutes and included slick grappling exchanges, bombs on the feet and everything else in between. Ultimately, Magny took home the split decision win but Gastelum definitely gave him a fight.
Andre Fili earned an extra $50,000 for Performance of the Night honors after he knocked out Gabriel Benitez with a devastating head kick followed up by a huge flurry of punches. This was Fili's first win since October 2014 so he needed to make a statement in this Octagon outing, and he did just that.
Marco Polo Reyes also picked up a $50,000 bonus for Performance of the Night honors after his knockout win over Cesar Arzamendia in his UFC debut on the preliminary card. Reyes competed on The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 2 but lost in the semi-finals.
