UFC Fight Night 80 bout order finalized, Sterling vs. Eduardo buried on prelims

Paige VanZant and Sage Northcutt will be featured on the December 10th UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas, but top 10 bantamweights will be deep on the prelims.

Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

By now you've heard the news that Joanne Calderwood is out with a knee injury, which is why Rose Namajunas is fighting Paige VanZant in the new main event of UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas on Thursday, December 10th. If you haven't heard the news, now you have! It's one of many changes to the card over the last week or so, including the late addition of Sage Northcutt, who takes on Cody Pfister, and also the swapping in of Sergio Moraes for the injured Lyman Good against Omari Akhmedov.

With the UFC Fight Night: VanZant vs. Namajunas bout order finalized, there's one glaring point of emphasis, which is the fact that #6 bantamweight Aljamain Sterling and #10 Johnny Eduardo are in the middle of the prelims and in the bottom half of the bout order. Maybe it doesn't matter as much with the whole card on Fight Pass, but still worth noting that a highly touted prospect-turned-contender in Sterling isn't even close to a higher profile spot on what is otherwise a smaller show. Sterling doesn't seem to mind, but it's also worth nothing that this fight is also the last of his current contract, and he does plan to test the free agent market after all is said and done.

Here's the complete bout order for the card, which airs (at least in North America) entirely on UFC Fight Pass:

Main Card (10 PM ET/7 PM PT)

Paige VanZant vs. Rose Namajunas
Michael Chiesa vs. Jim Miller
Sage Northcutt vs. Cody Pfister
Thiago Santos vs. Elias Theodorou

Preliminary Card (6:45 PM ET/3:45 PM PT)

John Howard vs. Tim Means
Antonio Carlos Junior vs. Kevin Casey
Sergio Moraes vs. Omari Akhmedov
Johnny Eduardo vs. Aljamain Sterling

Michael Graves vs. Danny Roberts
Phillipe Nover vs. Zubaira Tukhugov
Kailin Curran vs. Emily Kagan
