Fertitta: UFC 193 trending to be the second best-selling UFC pay-per-view ever

The UFC CEO says Ronda Rousey's loss in Australia not only set a new attendance record for a UFC event but it is showing signs of being the second best-selling PPV in the organization's history.

Lorenzo Fertitta is talking up the kind of numbers that UFC 193, featuring Ronda Rousey's shocking upset KO loss to Holly Holm, is putting up on pay-per-view.

"It is currently third, Fertitta told Yahoo Sports on Wednesday, and is on pace to finish behind only UFC 100. The Rousey-Holm fight sold in excess of one million on pay-per-view, though Fertitta would not confirm a specific number."

Jamie Penick of MMA Torch adds some context.

"(That) would put it around or just under 1.1 million buys currently. The highest drawing broadcast to date, UFC 100, drew an estimated 1.6 million buys in 2009, well above any other event to date. However, several have surpassed one million buys, though none since Dec. 2013's UFC 168 event."

The event broke attendance records for a UFC card with 56,214 fans present and a gate of $6.8 million breaking the previous record of 55,724 for UFC 129 in Toronto although it did not break that event's record for tickets sold.
