Tonight, join us right here for live discussion of episode 9 of The Ultimate Fighter: Team McGregor vs. Team Faber. As always, the show airs on Fox Sports 1 at 10:00 p.m. ET.
We're not yet out of the opening round, but already we're nearing the end of this season, with only 3 episodes after this one until the finals. That means the pace is picking up, starting with last week's double fight episode. There, it was Team McGregor coming out strong with both Artem Lobov and David Teymur scoring wins (and, in the process, making poor Johnny Nunez 0-2 on TUF). Lobov in particular looked very good - check out his highlights above. That gives the Europeans the 5-3 edge and sets up this week's fight.
Tonight, we close out the opening round with Europe's Abner Lloveras (19-7) vs. Team USA's Jason Gonzalez (9-2). Lloveras is a Spanish fighter with the awesomely Mega Man-esque nickname "Skullman". He's a 10 year pro with likely his last shot at the UFC coming here. Gonzalez is the less seasoned fighter here, though he looked better getting in to the house. I don't have a great read on either one, but like Gonzalez based on those fights. Also tonight, one of the 9 who has advanced gets booted out of the next round for having the most boring fight. Teymur, I'm looking at you buddy...
Here are the current standings:
