Report: Thiago Alves injured, out of UFC: South Korea headliner vs Ben Henderson

Thiago Alves has been reportedly forced out of his main event contest against Benson Henderson at UFC Fight Night 79 later this month.

Thiago Alves is reportedly out of his UFC Fight Night 79 matchup against former UFC lightweight champion Ben Henderson, which would've headlined the UFC's debut in South Korea later this month, with a rib injury.

After Twitter user @TalkMMA reported the news initially, MMAjunkie.com came out with a report of their own. UFC officials haven't confirmed the injury.

Alves (21-10) returned to the Octagon last year after two years on the sidelines and picked up a decision win over Seth Baczynski. He followed that win up with an upset TKO over Jordan Mein at UFC 183 this past January, but most recently fell to Carlos Condit earlier this spring.

Henderson (22-5) has been out of action since February, when he submitted Brandon Thatch in the main event of UFC Fight Night 60. Prior to that, he suffered the first two-fight skid of his veteran career with losses to current champion Rafael dos Anjos and future title challenger Donald Cerrone.

It hasn't been clarified whether or not the UFC will look for a replacement to face "Smooth" on short notice.

UFC Fight Night 79 takes place live from the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul, South Korea on Nov. 28. Currently scheduled as the co-feature is a welterweight bout between Dong Hyun Kim and Jorge Masvidal.
