A lightweight matchup between contender Beneil Dariush and Mairbek Taisumov has been booked for UFC Fight Night 81 in January.
Following a report from Daniel Levi on Before The Battle, Taisumov confirmed the news on social media.
After dropping his first career loss to Ramsey Nijem in 2014, Dariush (12-1) has won five-straight including stoppages over Daron Cruickshank and Tony Martin. Dariush picked up the biggest win of his career at UFC Fight Night 73 this past summer when he defeated Michael Johnson via controversial decision.
Taisumov (24-5) is currently riding a three-fight winning streak, which includes TKO wins over Alan Patrick and Anthony Christodoulou. His last loss was in early 2014 when he suffered a close decision to Michel Prazares in Brazil.
The card placement for UFC Fight Night 81 has yet to be finalized, but Dariush vs. Taisumov will likely be featured on the main card.
UFC Fight Night 81 takes place live from the TD Garden in Boston, MA on Jan. 17. In the main event, UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw defends his belt against former titleholder Dominick Cruz.
