UFC 197 slated for Rio de Janeiro's HSBC Arena in March

UFC 197 is set for the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on March 5.

The UFC is planning to host four events in Brazil next year, including a pay-per-view card in March.

UFC 197 has been confirmed for the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on March 5. It's the 8th time they've been to the city since August 2011 at UFC 134.

UFC Brazil General Manager and Senior Vice President Giovani Decker announced the news at the UFC Fight Night 77 post-fight press conference on Saturday night.

With no fights booked for the card yet, it is not clear who will headline the pay-per-view card. With former middleweight champion Anderson Silva suspended until Jan. 31, it is a possibility he returns to action in the headliner. Another option would be a heavyweight championship rematch between Werdum and Cain Velasquez, who fought earlier this year, but they are currently targeted for UFC 196 in February.

The UFC's latest visit to Rio de Janeiro was in August for UFC 190 when Ronda Rousey defended her women's bantamweight championship against Bethe Correia. 14,723 people attended the event and the pay-per-view card received approximately 900,000 buys.
