Despite Nick Diaz' five-year suspension by the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC), the Stockton fighter appears to be in good spirits. Diaz, 32, was spotted coming out of a nightclub on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood on Thursday night. TMZ were nearby and offered Diaz their full support.

Fans, fighters and members of the media aren't the only ones backing the former Strikeforce welterweight champion - on Monday, pop sensation Cher sent out a tweet linking her 2.8 million followers to the White House petition calling for Diaz' 5-year ban to be lifted.

"That's nice of her," Diaz said when TMZ asked him about Cher's supportive tweet.

The MMA veteran tested positive for marijuana metabolites on the night of his clash with Anderson Silva at UFC 183. Diaz, a repeat offender, also tested positive for marijuana when he fought Carlos Condit at UFC 143 and Takanori Gomi at PRIDE 33.

Despite passing two drug tests by WADA accredited lab SMRTL, the NAC slapped Diaz with a $165,000 fine on top of his 5-year ban. The Cesar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu student is expected to challenge the ruling in a court of law.
