It seems pretty safe to say, at this point, that if Ronda Rousey is doing it, it's a first for MMA. What's the new high score she's putting up on the arcade game of UFC accomplishments now? "Guest Hosting" the nation's most popular sports news show on television, ESPN's SportsCenter. The network announced the news in a press release, via

The UFC bantamweight champion will be not only the first UFC, or even MMA fighter to guest host SportsCenter, but the first female athlete to take the role ever. The guest hosting position was first handed to an athlete in 2013, when NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson got his time behind the news desk. So, she's hitting something of a milestone, not just for the UFC, but for women on ESPN in general. She's set to go on the air at 6pm EST this Wednesday, October 7th, alongside anchor Lindsay Czarniak. She'll also be appearing on Mike & Mike, First Take, and the midnight edition of SportsCenter alongside Scott Van Pelt.

It's not Rousey's first bit of recognition from ESPN this year, as she also took home the ESPYs for Best Female Athlete and Best Fighter. And way back in 2012, she got a spot in the Body Issue of ESPN: The Magazine. Rousey gave her thoughts on the upcoming chance to host SportsCenter:

"I'm excited to co-host SportsCenter with Lindsay on Wednesday. I've always appreciated the support ESPN has shown me and I'm honored to be the first female celebrity co-host!"

All of this is part of the buildup to her UFC 193 fight against Holly Holm, down in Melbourne, Australia on November 15th. Joanna Jedrzejczyk will put her strawweight title on the line against Valerie Letourneau in the co-main event, and apparently, she might just make an appearance on SportsCenter alongside Rousey as well. UFC PR Veep Dave Sholler tweeted the news out alongside the announcement of Rousey's news.
