KNUCKLE UP #346: UFC 192, the Unbearable Rightness of Robinson + Watching a Dead Man Fight

New, 22 comments

Literary gunslinger Eugene S. Robinson lends his "one"-of-a-"kind" "perspective" to UFC 192 and the unholy and wholly uncomfortable spectacle of men coming to grips with the limitations of their limitations. GUS and RASHAD, mostly. Sobering in the extreme. Leavened only slightly by Robinson's 99.77 percent correct pick rate, his brutal take on the death of the light heavyweight division and the wonder of someone moving from DON'T CARE to CARE....just like that. And, oh yeah: Nazis.

In Round #346 KNUCKLE UP master and commander EUGENE S. ROBINSON [with the "S" standing for "Success"] spends scant time chortling over being so right while the rest of you were so wrong before analyzing the dismantling of a man in THE MAULER who he chalks up as the LOST BATTALION's first real casualty. And back to tweetin' and deletin'? JONNY BONEY JONESY as the Man Who Owned the World. That plus a scene by scene break down and Nazis. And for the listener ON THE GO? The KNUCKLE UP TIME LINE.

1] 7:01: THE SORROW OF YOUNG WERTHER

2] 8:52: THAT GUY WHAT BEAT ME UP ONE TIME

3] 30:34: THREESOMES: THE DOWN SIDES

4] 41:00: RASHAD EVANS: TELL HIM WHERE THE ROAD TURNS

5] 41:30: ESCORTS VS. WHORES

6] 41:35: NAZIS

7] 41: 37: CHEST BEATING + CURSING OF GOD

Eugene S. Robinson host of Knuckle Up and author of Fight: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Ass-Kicking but Were Afraid You'd Get Your Ass Kicked for Asking [Harper Collins], A LONG SLOW SCREW [Robotic Boot] and a play called THE INIMITABLE SOUNDS OF LOVE; A THREESOME IN FOUR ACTS [Southern] also sings for a band called OXBOW and appeared in Bill Cosby's Leonard Part 6 (and yes, a Cosby story is in the works), a Miller Genuine Draft commercial, and had his own TV show in Germany called? "The Eugene Robinson Show."
