Dillashaw banned from Team Alpha Male: 'I'm not allowed to show my face'

It looks like Dillashaw's move out of Team Alpha Male may be a much more severe cutting of ties than it first appeared, as he now reports that he's been banned from the gym.

It all started back in 2014, with the announcement that Duane Ludwig and Team Alpha Male announced that they would be parting ways. Ludwig wanted to head back to Colorado and start his own gym, Urijah Faber was quick to call his exit a breath of fresh air. That was the first sign of tension in what is now over a year of increasing hostility. All of that came to an explosive head, recently, when Faber went on the MMA Hour claiming that Ludwig was essentially a sexist, racist, greedy, blight that he was glad to see the back of.

Those are fighting words. And stuck in the middle of this fight was UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw. The long time Alpha Male fighter was also the fighter who seemed to gain the most working from Ludwig and blossomed into a title contender under his tutelage. Now he had to choose sides. And he chose Colorado, a new fight camp, and the opportunity to keep working with Duane Ludwig. And, it appears that Team Alpha Male has chosen to see the back of him as well.

After Faber recently went on Stud Show Radio, where he talked about Dillashaw's anger problems and tendency to injure sparring partners, Dillashaw went on the October 12th episode of the MMA Hour to reveal that he was no longer welcome at Team Alpha Male.

"I'm not allowed to show my face at Alpha Male, which is kind of crazy to me," Dillashaw told Ariel Helwani when asked about his move to Colorado and the increasingly public drama that has surrounded the decision.

That sounds like a pretty definitive end to Dillashaw's association with Faber and his camp. Maybe sometime down the road they'll be able to patch this up and start working together again, but for the immediate future I think it's safe to say that T.J. Dillashaw won't be dropping in at his old gym to get a few rounds in whenever he's out in Cali. Dillashaw is currently set to fight Dominick Cruz on January 17th in Boston, Massachusetts .
