Glover Teixeira doesn’t believe Jon Jones should be stripped of title: I don’t care if you’re on something

Former UFC light-heavyweight title contender Glover Teixeira revealed that he is not one of the opinion that Jon Jones should be stripped of his title for his positive drug test for cocaine metabolites.

Following Jon Jones' positive drug test in December for benzoylecgonine, the main metabolite for cocaine, many fighters and pundits voiced the shared opinion that the champion should be stripped of his title. However, it appears that will not be the case, as Jones failed test was considered "out-of-competition."

While many may not agree, his former foe Glover Teixeira believes that was the correct decision.

"To tell you the truth, I don't agree with this idea of taking his title. Jon Jones is the champion," Teixeira told MMAFighting.com. "I'm like those gladiators from the past. I don't care if you're on something. It's kill or die. I don't care if he was on something or not, he's the champion."

While the news was "shocking" to the Brazilian, he had has no doubt that, if stripped of the title, Jones will simply come back and regain it immediately.

"If you suspend him for a year, he will come back and probably win the title again. He's that that good," he said. "Did you see what he did to Cormier? He will still be the champion. In my opinion, taking his title away or not makes no difference. He will come back and stay champion."
