UFC 183 results: Tyron Woodley takes lackluster split decision over Kelvin Gastelum

The welterweight fight between Tyron Woodley and Kelvin Gastelum didn't live up to the other UFC 183 main card fights, but Woodley managed to take a split decision.

The co-main event of UFC 183 was nothing like the first three fights. Those bouts featured non-stop action and great finishes. The welterweight fight between Tyron Woodley and Kelvin Gastelum was slow and plodding, and went to a decision. A split decision, in fact.

The first round of the fight saw both men staring at each other. A lot. Woodley scored with a couple of body kicks and a right. Gastelum landed a few single strikes here and there. The crowd was booing, and rightfully so. Neither man was doing a lot.

Woodley turned it up in the second, staggering Gastelum twice with hard rights while Gastelum wasn't able to find his range at all. If there was one definitive round in the fight, this was it, and it was definitely Woodley's.

Gastelum finally turned it up in the third, coming forward and managing to punch Woodley in the face a few times. Woodley got in his own shots, but it seemed that Gastelum was the one bringing the pressure and the round might go to him. In the end, the judges sided with Woodley. The scores were 29-28, 28-29, and 30-27.

Woodley (15-3) picked his fourth win in five fights. Gastelum (10-1) suffered the first defeat of his professional career.
