Miesha Tate showed a lot of heart in her UFC 183 bout with Sara McMann, coming back from a rough start to take a majority decision victory. The judges had it 29-28, 29-27, and 28-28 in favor of the underdog.

McMann came out with purpose, beating Tate up with hard punches and pressing the action. She then clubbed her with a  big right that sent Tate to the mat. She wasn't able to get anything going on the ground, but it was a dominant round for the Olympic silver medalist.

She was in control for the first three minutes of the second stanza as well, peppering Tate with punches and backing her off. Finally Tate came to life and backed McMann up with some shots of her own. She then got a takedown and threatened with a guillotine. She moved to mount right at the horn, but had no time to do anything with it.

The final round saw McMann quickly go for a throw, but Tate managed to scramble on top. McMann had no answer from the bottom, and Tate spent the entire round controlling her. That was surprising to many considering the pedigree of her opponent.

Tate (16-5, 3-2 UFC) picked up her third straight win since her UFC 168 loss to Ronda Rousey. McMann (8-2, 2-2 UFC) will take a hit in the rankings after coming up short in this bout.
