The good news for Kelvin Gastelum and John Lineker is that they'll be fighting at UFC 183 tomorrow night. Unfortunately, their weight-cutting mishaps have cost them an extra chunk out of their respective purses. UFC PR rep Dave Sholler confirmed that Gastelum, who weighed in at 180 lbs for his welterweight fight against Tyron Woodley, has been fined 30% of his purse but will still have his fight continue. The same rings true for flyweight John Lineker, who weighed in at 130 lbs for his bout with Ian McCall. Usually, the standard fine is 20% for missing weight, but in the cases of Gastelum and Lineker it's been upped by 10%.
Gastelum has officially missed weight twice in his welterweight career, in addition to needing multiple tries to get to the welterweight limit for his March 2014 bout with Rick Story. Lineker has now missed weight 4 times and has still never weighed in below 126 lbs (the limit required to compete in title fights).
So while everything is still in place and no cancellations have occurred, these respective bouts will take place at a catchweight and Gastelum and Lineker will forfeit their purses to their opponents.
