After months of anticipation, January 31st will finally feature the long-awaited flyweight contest between former top-ranked Ian McCall and potential title challenger John Lineker.
The two competitors were supposed to meet several months ago in Uberlandia - they had even weighed in for the fight. However, McCall, who was taunting Lineker on the scale, fell ill that evening with a viral infection and was forced to withdraw from the match will less than 24 hours to go.
While Lineker was not impressed with how his weekend in Uberlandia played out, he could not help but admit that he actually enjoyed the company of "Unclecreepy."
"I met Ian in Uberlandia, and I have to admit, he's actually a pretty cool and funny guy," Lineker told MMAjunkie. "So I'll make an offer to him. Don't make me chase you all over the octagon, and I promise I'll go easy on you."
When asked about the unlucky incident that cancelled their last scheduled fight, Lineker had his own comically skewed viewpoint on the matter.
"After meeting Ian, I have to say I feel kind of sorry for scaring him so bad he got diarrhea," Lineker said. "He really does seem like a nice guy, so I hate that he had to deal with his fear like that."
To add to his jokes, Lineker explained that he has an offer for McCall that would ease the American's fear.
"Ian, if you don't make me run all over the octagon, I promise you I'll only hit you hard enough to knock you out. I'll go easy on you."
