You read that right. It's 2015, and Kimbo Slice is still making waves in MMA.

According to a report from Combat Press, Kevin Ferguson has joined the 2nd largest MMA promotion in the world, with an official announcement from Bellator expected to be made soon.

Slice first rose to fame as an online sensation back in 2003, and he eventually turned from YouTube backyard brawler to an MMA fighter. He managed to make it to the UFC by 2009, but after a loss to Matt Mitrione that dropped his ledger to 4-2, he left the sport. Kimbo then switched to boxing where he faced very low level competition en route to a 7-0 record.

While he hasn't competed in the past couple of years, it looks like Slice will be coming back to the cage soon.

By the time he steps back into the cage, Kimbo will be 41-years-old. He has bad knees, hasn't competed in boxing in 2 years, and MMA in 5 years.

That being said, it's undeniable that Slice will still bring in the eyeballs, especially when matched up against someone who can make it an even bigger attraction. After all, balancing sport and spectacle has been a key component in the Scott Coker era of Bellator.

Coker's roster includes several name fighters that can up the fun factor or the 'freakshow' aspect such as Bobby Lashley, James Thompson, Stephan Bonnar, Melvin Manhoef and even Tito Ortiz.
