Dana White: Mousasi vs. Jacare winner will be ‘pretty damn close’ to a title shot

New, comments

UFC President Dana White previews the upcoming main event between Gegard Mousasi and Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza and proclaims the eventual winner ‘pretty damn close’ to a title shot.

Following the less-than-stellar line-up that was featured at last week's UFC 177 pay-per-view event, the UFC will rebound with a fantastic Fight Night event live from Foxwood, Connecticut.

Apart from all the exciting match-ups on the undercard, the event will culminate with a five-round middleweight main event between Gegard Mousasi and Ronaldo ‘Jacare' Souza.

Speaking during the UFC's weigh-in show, UFC President Dana White previewed the exciting rematch between the two top middleweights:

"I've been following Mousasi for a long time," said White. "He's well-rounded, tough, and he's going to have to try and keep this thing on its feet. ‘Jacare' is going to try and close the distance, double leg him and take him to the ground. He is one of the best submission guys in the sport, and I think he's looking to go out and submit Gegard Mousasi."

To add to the value of the fight, White revealed that the winner of Friday night's main event will be close to a coveted middleweight title shot.

"It is a very important fight for the 185lb. division. Whoever wins  - I hate saying they'll get a title shot - but they'll be pretty damn close."
