UFC fight bookings roundup – 9/23 – 9/30

The UFC has booked another slew of fights over the last week. Here is a quick rundown of what they put together.

Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sp

Since the UFC has decided to produce 50+ events in 2014, there is a remarkable amount of fighter signings and new match-ups being set up throughout any given week. Many of these new signings are for match-ups that take place on the undercard, or on the Fight Pass portion of a PPV, so we are going to continue with a new weekly (or bi-weekly if needed) series of articles where we take a brief look at each and every bout booked by the promotion in one place.

UFC Fight Night: Stockholm

The Swedish MMA Federation (SMMAF) nixed an intended match-upbetween Dennis Siver and Taylor Lapilus, which led to the UFC selecting Charles Rosa as the final replacement against the German featherweight.

UFC Fight Night: Halifax

Several late changes has occurred to the UFC's first event in Halifax, Nova Scotia, as the debuting Roman Salazar will replace Rob Font against Canada's own Mitch Gagnon, and Chris Kelades will replace Louis Gaudinot against Patrick Holohan.

UFC 179

After Alan Patrick suffered one of the most gruesome injuries in recent memory, Diego Ferreira has been called upon to step in against Beneil Dariush at UFC 179.

UFC Fight Night: Sydney

Another series of injury replacement has brought us to Neil Seery vs. Richie Vaculik. Ray Borg was originally scheduled to meet Vaculik but was forced to withdraw from the bout with an injury.

UFC Fight Night: Uberlandia

A slew of fights have been announced for the upcoming UFC Fight Night event in Uberlandia, Brazil. These include Nina Ansaroff vs. Juliana Lima and Leon Edwards vs. Claudio Henrique Da Silva.

The UFC also announced that Francimar Barroso would replace Rafael Cavalcante against Ovince Sait Preux in the evening's co-main event.

UFC 180

A compelling women's bantamweight bout is scheduled to take place in the UFC's much anticipated debut in Mexico City, Mexico, as Jessica Eye and Leslie Smith get set to meet at the November 15 event.
