Bernard Hopkins says he was 'peacemaker for HBO and Golden Boy'

Hopkins always knew that Golden Boy Promotions and HBO would come to an agreement, and "The Alien" says that he offered a big hand in making the two parties reconcile.

On Saturday, November 8, at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Bernard "The Alien" Hopkins will meet Sergey "Krusher" Kovalev in an exciting light heavyweight unification title bout live on HBO World Championship Boxing. This week, a press conference was held to hype the event, and here are some highlights from the media scrum with Hopkins.

On putting the relationship back together with HBO and Golden Boy Promotions - "I put my money where my mouth is. We talked about the best fight, thats leadership is that and something, because its easy for me and leadership to say someone should do this and someone should do that, but then I have an opportunity to do what i said should be done, what better person to spearhead than the OG... to come through and say, listen, okay I said it, but now I got a chance to be the first one, was the last one on HBO and now the first one back through Golden Boy. Tell me that's not written. It's all in divine order... I'm just trying to say to everybody, I talked about something that came to pass."

"It shocked a whole lot of people, but it didn't shock me. it shocked a whole lot people because they talked, but then when they up against the same thing they talk about, their friend ain't there no more... We all experienced that in our life, so I get a chance now to say let's do the deal because I knew that it will accomplish so many things other than lawsuits...so Bernard became the peacekeeper and peacemaker and shaped the relationship between Golden Boy and HBO that was tarnished... it took me to put two power brokers together to say you know what, let's make the best fights for the fans."
