UFC 178: Johnson vs. Cariaso fight card

A final look at the Saturday, September 27th UFC 178 PPV at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Among the highlights: Demetrious Johnson's flyweight title defense against Chris Cariaso, plus the UFC debut of Eddie Alvarez and the PPV debut of Conor McGregor.

It's been a great month of fights for the UFC, and September is capped off with a terrific pay-per-view in Sin City. UFC 178 is headlined by flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson against Chris Cariaso, after the original main event of Jon Jones/Daniel Cormier was postponed to January. While fans may be irked by the marked drop in main event quality, this has to be considered one of the deepest PPVs the UFC has put out in a long time.

Also on tap for tonight is the highly-anticipated co-main event between lightweights Donald Cerrone and ex-Bellator champion Eddie Alvarez, who was granted his unconditional release on the same day that the UFC announced this dynamite fight. Excitement is abound in that one, and you can expect fireworks in the Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier featherweight tussle. If McGregor wins he's likely to get a title shot, and that's potentially the case for the Cerrone vs. Alvarez winner.

There's so much on the line tonight, it should be a terrific night of action. Here's the full lineup of what fans have to look forward to tonight from Las Vegas:
