After the Universal Reality Combat Championship re-launched last August where they moved away from a traditional ring, South East Asia's longest running promotion will be returning on October 23 for their first major event in a cage. BloodyElbow.com has learned of the full line up for URCC 25, and the show dubbed as the 'Takeover' will feature two title bouts on the card.
"I had to prepare all of our fighters because we are going to be sending them abroad. If they're not used to fighting in a cage, then it might be a disadvantage. That's the only reason why," URCC founder Alvin Aguilar told us last August, "As I've said, we have to showcase Filipino Mixed Martial Arts to the world, so no more adjustments. I want them to go out there and kick ass without having to make any adjustments to the cage."
The two belts up for grabs that night will see URCC featherweight champion Reydon Romero defending his title against Malaysia's Jian Kai Chee, and 'Onyok' Reysaldo Transmonte rematching Andrew Benibe for the bantamweight belt after winning a razor thin decision win last year.
Fan favorites such as Alvin Ramirez and former URCC champs Angelito Manguray and Caloy Baduria are also set to make their returns on the event. These staples of Filipino MMA will be taking on Jessie Paul Del Valle, Miguel Mosquera and Mark Palomar respectively.
Also on the card, Hideo Morikawa takes on his former stablemate in Mike Bunag, and DEFTAC prospect Chris Hofman will take on Nickson Kola.
