While Chris Cariaso is next in line for a title shot against Flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson, it appears the UFC is already planning the next No. 1 contender fight.

According to a report by MMAFIghitng.com's Ariel Helwani, the promotion's matchmakers are working on a scheduling a match-up between Ian McCall and John Lineker to determine the next contender in the division.

McCall managed to string back-to-back wins in the octagon for the first time since joining the roster in 2012 when he defeated Brad Pickett via unanimous decision in Ireland last month. Ranked third in the division, McCall is 2-2-1 in the UFC and has already faced the champion on two separate occasions prior to his crowning.

It should be noted that McCall mentioned following his win that he would likely require surgery to rectify an issue with his hand.

Lineker is coming off a TKO victory over Alptekin Ozkilic in the third round of UFC Fight Night: Cerrone vs. Miller last month in Atlantic City. He is now 5-1 in his last six outings in the UFC with his only loss coming against Ali Bagautinov at UFC 169. He is ranked at No. 7 in the flyweight rankings at the moment.

The key issue with the Brazilian has been his inconsistency making weight for his fights. Three of his seven fights in the UFC were catchweight bouts after he was unable to make the flyweight limit at weigh-ins.

No details were offered as to which fight card this bout will be added to.
