The latest UFC on Fox event saw a #1 contender named in the Welterweight division to culminate a fantastic fight. With that, we have an opportunity to take a look at the latest rankings from the SB Nation panel. The rankings panel consists of two members from each of the SB Nation MMA sites - MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani and Dave Doyle, MMA Mania's Alex Giardini and Thomas Myers, and Bloody Elbow's Dallas Winson and myself, Fraser Coffeen.

Interestingly, the two 3 spots are all unanimous - UFC Welterweight champion Johny Hendricks at #1, #1 contender Robbie Lawler at #2, and Rory MacDonald at #3. I don't think there's much of an argument to be made about any of those spots. Starting at #4, things get a bit trickier.

Currently sitting at #4 is former interim champion Carlos Condit. He moves up to #4 from his previous ranking at #5, in the process dropping Tyron Woodley down a spot. Discuss.

New to the rankings is Jake Shields, who sneaks in at #9, bumping Demian Maia out of the top 10. Ben Askren is the only other non-UFC fighter to find his way into the top 10.

As for cult favorite Matt Brown? He holds steady at #6, neither rising nor falling as a result of his losing effort against Lawler.

One last note: Nick Diaz has announced his official return to the UFC, ending his retirement. Thanks to that announcement, he was officially a candidate for inclusion here. But no one voted for him.

Scoring: Fighters are given 10 points for a first-place vote, nine points for a second, etc., down to one point for 10th place. The results are then tallied up and presented here.

Official SB Nation rankings policy: Fighters under commission or company suspensions are ineligible to be ranked during the duration of their suspension or if they have licensing issues.
