Legacy FC 34 discussion thread.

For all you MMA fans who are dreading the thought of what tomorrow night's UFC 177 will bring, and want some more live MMA action in your life, never fear, Legacy FC is here!

Tonight marks the 34th event in the promotion's history since it remodeled itself a few years back, and the card is a pretty interesting mix between rising prospects, UFC veterans and MMA journeymen.

Here is the full televised main card, which can be seen on AXS TV starting at 10/9c, and the rerun will air at 2:30/1:30 am tomorrow morning.

Brian Hall (6-2) vs. Pedro Souza (13-0)

Jonathan Brookins (14-6) vs. Austin Lyons (11-3)

Ben Brewer (8-1) vs. Gilbert Smith (8-3)

Thomas Gifford (7-6, 1NC) vs. Wade Johnson (7-0)

Joel Cooper (3-1) vs. Grady Hurley (7-1)

Bobby Taylor vs. William Walker (2-2)

Opening up the card is a Lightweight matchup in which one fighter is either (3-4) or (4-2), which is why I put down no record next to Taylor's name. Chances are, he'll lose by submission tonight. Like the UFC, some of the fighter's records on here have been "padded" by Legacy, meaning their overall records differ from what the promotion claims. Next, there's a Middleweight matchup, followed by a thrilling Lightweight matchup between Thomas Gifford, a guy who holds seven submission wins, but also three losses in the same manner. It's hard to imagine why he's on here, because he has lost three straight, four of five overall. His opponent, Wade Johnson, has finished six of his seven opponents, and Legacy may be hoping to get him to the UFC soon.

The fourth fight of the main card is a Welterweight tilt starring a TUF 17 cast member in Gilbert Smith. He holds five submission wins, and is part of this card because he lost his last fight, a debut for Titan FC in May, where he lost to Ben Foster via unanimous decision. His opponent, Brewer, has only gone the distance once. His lone loss came via doctor stoppage less than a minute into his second pro fight, and seven of his fights have ended in the first round!

In the co-main event of the evening, TUF 12 Champion Jonathan Brookins fights for the second time with Legacy, after submitting Cody Fuller at Legacy FC 29 back in March. He went 2-3 in the UFC, including losing three of his last four with the promotion, the final two via submission, before temporarily retiring, moving to India, and aiming to practice yoga full time. A year later, he returned, missed weight in his Flyweight debut, but has made weight this time around.

His opponent, Austin Lyons, holds seven submission wins, but the last came in October 2011. His last fight, a Bellator bout, resulted in a technical decision win against Zach Underwood at Bellator 120.

The main event features a Flyweight who has won four times in the first round, and has finished six fights in Brian Hall. His opponent, Pedro Souza, is an undefeated Brazilian who has finished 12 opponents, eight via submission. Will he get it done again, or will Hall spoil his plans to make it to the UFC soon? We'll find out tonight.
