UFC: Cung Le 'We'll see who's throwing who around in the Octagon'

UFC middleweight, Cung Le talks about Bisping's propensity for showmanship, a future fight with Anderson Silva and weight maintenance and cutting.

Saturday morning (that's right folks, another one of those early morning cards) in Macau, Cung Le will be meeting up with Michael Bisping in the UFC Octagon. Bisping is coming off a tough loss to Tim Kennedy, and Le is returning from a pair of wins over Patrick Cote and Rich Franklin, but he's had quite a long layoff, complete with an elbow surgery and recovery.

In a recent interview with Bloody Elbow, Cung talked about Bisping's propensity for showmanship, a future fight with Anderson Silva and weight maintenance and cutting. Here's what he had to say:

Thoughts on Bisping possibly looking past this fight

I think it's really good because the less he focuses on me, the better. While he's been calling everybody else out, I'm over here training my crosshairs on him. I'm focused on him. I'm ready to go now. Come August 23rd, I'm gonna be even more dialed in. He can keep talking while I keep training because that talk is going to wear out soon.

I'm pumped up for this fight. I should have gotten the surgeries earlier, instead of waiting till the last minute. I was out for so long. I should have just taken care of it instead of just trying to work around it. Now it's fixed and it's go time. I'm not a spring chicken anymore, but I feel good. I listened to my doctors, did my rehab, strength and conditioning, so now, every time he says he's bigger and stronger than me...we'll see who's throwing who around in the Octagon.

The headbutt during the faceoff at Media Day

You know, the whole time before that, he was being cool, but as soon as Dana White got there and we faced the media, he placed his head on mine and tried to do a little shoving. Of course Dana jumped in there, but I wasn't going to do anything there. I'm just gonna save all that for the cage. If he doesn't want to respect me or wants to talk shit, that just makes me fight better.

Anderson Silva

One day down the road, it would definitely be an honor to fight Anderson, but right now, I'm only focused on the task in front of me. I think Ed Soares had mentioned that Anderson had three guys he wanted to fight; myself, Nick Diaz and Michael Bisping. In order for it to become a reality, I've got to win this fight.

PED Issues

I try not to involve myself with all the BS that's going on. Getting ready for this fight is already a tough enough job. I make sure I concern myself with my own training and being smart with my recovery. Those guys are going to do what they've got to do, and nothing I say is going to change that. It's just a waste of time, constantly worrying about what everybody else is doing. Any spare time I have, I spend it with my family or I'm reading scripts.

Weight

When I'm not in a training camp, I walk around at about 204-205. During training camp, I walk at about 197. From the time I weigh in until fight time, I put on about 10 pounds. For some reason, when I do my cut, I never put on more than 10 pounds in that period between the weigh-in and the fight. I try not to overeat because that makes you sluggish in the fight. I've done that before and it's like I'm waterlogged, so I try to be smart about it.

Cung Le will meet Michael Bisping Saturday morning at 5 am EST. The fight is available via the UFC's Fight Pass service.
