Glover Teixeira minimizes Jon Jones's illegal moves: 'I'm an old school guy'

Glover Teixeira pays no mind to allegations that Jon Jones fights dirty. According to the former UFC Light Heavyweight title challenger, the champion pulled some illegal moves when they fought on April, at UFC 172, but Teixeira told Tatame.com.br that Bones's fouls aren't the key to his successful game. The 34-year old Brazilian also feels that, as a MMA fighter, he should be ready to fight like they did in the old school days:

"It's hard to talk about this because he became the champion thanks to his merits. I'm an old school guy. I grew up watching "Vale Tudo" and Marco Ruas. I fight imagining the bouts from a past generation, when everything was legal. I don't care much about these allegations. If it was a brawl, everything would be legal. Some of what he does bothers. He eye poked me three time when we fought. Nobody trains 'eye poke defense'. I don't know if he does on purpose, all I know is that he's a great fighter."

Glover says that his plan is to have another shot at the UFC LHW belt against Jones.

"I'll have another bout against him but I need to do do some fights before. I think that he'll maintain the belt for a while."

After a leg injury, the eighth title defense of Jones was postponed from September 27th, at UFC 178, to January 3rd, at UFC 182 against Daniel Cormier. Teixeira will face Phil Davis on October 25, at UFC 179.
