Sam Caplan confirms end of time as Bellator matchmaker

Sam Caplan has tweeted that he will be officially done with Bellator on August 25.

Things keep changing at Bellator. First it was the ousting of Bjorn Rebney and replacing him with Scott Coker, War Machine has been released in a bit of a new "zero tolerance" policy from a promotion that previously signed Brett Rogers and played up War Machine's legal troubles and now matchmaker Sam Caplan is out the door.

Caplan tweeted earlier today, "Just wanted to let everyone know that 8/25 will be my last day with Bellator. A decision was made not to renew my contract."

This was expected as part of the new management shake-up, but it should be noted that Caplan did a respectable job of identifying available talent and bringing them on board.

He was able to do better than many expected prior to becoming a casualty of the promotional turnover. That doesn't mean that Bellator's matchmaking will go to hell. Rich Chou, formerly the Strikeforce matchmaker under Coker is now in the role at Bellator.
