Chris Weidman and Lyoto Machida battled it out for five full rounds in the main event of UFC 175. The two men were able to go toe to toe on both a tactical and violence level as the fight evolved.
Weidman was able to win the early rounds by determining the spacing at which the fight was fought and disrupting Machida's timing.
Machida was still able to work in some brilliant body work that eventually began to wear on the champion. As Weidman began to run out of steam, Machida picked up his attack, pressuring forward and throwing some powerful combinations.
Weidman did not back down and managed to land his own big shots and also score some takedowns. One of the most brilliant moments for Weidman was a devastating elbow to Machida's face that appeared to badly rock the challenger.
