Saturday August 2, Bloody Elbow presents live fight coverage of Brandon Rios vs. Diego Chaves and Sergey Kovalev vs. Blake Caparello. HBO Boxing After Dark Rios vs. Chaves airs live on HBO this Saturday, August 2. The show has a fight time of 9:45 p.m. ET / PT. Bloody Elbow will have live fight coverage, including results and discussion, right here.
This show is a big split site triple-header with two very interesting fighters in the co-featured bouts. In the night's main event, Brandon Rios takes the ring for the first time since his 2013 loss to Manny Pacquiao. Rios has become a very high profile fighter in the past year thanks to his epic two fight series with Mike Alvarado and PPV showdown with Pacquiao. But he's also on a two fight losing streak dating back close to two years. He very badly needs a win here against the aggressive spoiler Chaves.
Also included is the latest fight from KO machine Sergey Kovalev. One of the breakout fighters of 2013, the undefeated Kovalev has not gone the distance since 2010, and has been winning over more and more fans with his heavy fists. He's already 1-0 in 2014 and will no doubt be looking for another big KO here. Opponent Caparello is a very heavy underdog here, and unless his southpaw stance causes problems for Kovalev, this should be an easy win.
