Rumors have been swirling around the MMA world that the UFC is working to add a mega-fight to the UFC 178 card. This isn't that fight, but it should be a good one between two Lightweights on the verge of contendership who both picked up wins this past Saturday in San Jose.

UFC.com today announced that Bobby Green will face Jorge Masvidal at UFC 178. The card is headlined by a Light Heavyweight title tilt between champ Jon Jones and Olympian Daniel Cormier.

The 29-year-old Masvidal improved his UFC record to 4-1 with a unanimous decision win over Daron Cruickshank at UFC on Fox 12: Lawler vs. Brown. "Gamebred" struggled in the first round against Cruickshank, surviving a flash knock down to take the final rounds on all three judges cards. He's ranked at #14 in the division on UFC.com.

"King" Green jumped six places in the rankings to #7 following his split win over former Strikeforce champ Josh Thomson. Green managed to throw the heavily-favored Thomson off his game with forward motion, lots of feints and plenty of mid-fight trash talk. He also no-sold Thomson's strikes and left "The Punk" with a bloody face and the wrong end of a split decision.
