Saturday July 26, Bloody Elbow presents live fight coverage of Gennady Golovkin vs. Daniel Geale. HBO World Championship Boxing Golovkin vs. Geale airs live on HBO this Saturday, July 26. The show has a fight time of 9:30 p.m. ET / PT. Bloody Elbow will have live fight coverage, including results and discussion, right here.
Last year was a huge one for GGG, Gennady Golovkin. The heavy handed Kazakh fighter kept his undefeated record alive with 4 wins last year, all by KO. He's 1-0 in 2014, again with a KO win, and looking to keep the streak going against the tough Daniel Geale. There's no doubt HBO has big plans for Golovkin and is looking to move him up into that elite superstar category. He's not quite there yet, but he's close. A win here could potentially set up a Golovkin vs. Cotto fight, which would be huge for GGG. But he can't look past Geale. This battle tested Australian fighter has been in there with plenty of skilled fighters, and more often than not, he's emerged victorious. He's the underdog here for sure, but he's also the stiffest test yet for the rising career of Golovkin, and absolutely has the ability to make this a fight.

Also featured on the HBO broadcast is a Heavyweight clash pitting Mike Perez against Bryant Jennings. This has the potential to be a good fight, as both men are undefeated and looking to stake their claim to the elusive title of "next great American Heavyweight." Both are interesting fighters who bring a story to the ring, but my eye will closely be on Perez. Last year, Perez defeated Magomed Abdusalamov in a brutal fight, sending Abdusalamov to the hospital and eventually into a coma. Perez's next fight was not a good performance from him as he looked very tentative and shaky in the ring. Has that experience forever taken some of the fight out of this prospect? This fight will help us answer that question.
