Dana White: Kickboxing champ Tyrone Spong wants to fight in the UFC

The kickboxing champ showed up at UFC Dublin yesterday and told Dana White he wants just one fight in the Octagon.

Tyrone Spong was last seen snapping his shin in a Glory kickboxing event but apparently he's well enough to show up backstage at yesterday's UFC Fight Night: McGregor vs. Brandao and ask UFC president Dana White for a chance to compete in the Octagon.

"I've got Tyrone Spong back here telling me, ‘Sign me for one fight,' White said at Saturday's post-fight press conference. "I want to fight in the UFC."

Spong was talking about making his pro boxing debut before he broke his leg against Gokhan Saki and he's also signed to fight MMA for the World Series of Fighting which airs on NBC Sports cable in the U.S. where he's amassed a 2-0 professional mixed martial arts record. He fights at Light Heavyweight in MMA.

Spong most recently came to attention when he condemned Israeli actions in Gaza.

Spong will be recovering from his leg break into 2015 so I wouldn't hold my breath awaiting his Octagon debut.
