When you ask Japanese insiders who are the top young prospects in the country, they are most likely to be in unison saying names such as Kyoji Horiguchi, Michinori Tanaka and Yuta Sasaki. The first two have already started their UFC careers with impressive wins, and it looks like Sasaki is going to be joining them in the big leagues soon.
Ulka (or Uruka), as he is known, has compiled a 17-1-2 record and is unbeaten in his last 10 fights, establishing himself as one of the most exciting prospects in the region. The 24-year-old kicked off his career by becoming the Shooto Rookie Champion in 2010, and currently holds the promotion's Pacific Rim title.
He's a well rounded fighter with a large 5-foot-10 frame for bantamweight, and much like his friend in Tanaka, Uruka has also spent time training recently at Team Alpha Male to sharpen his skills.
According to MMA-in-Asia, the Japanese prospect has signed with the UFC, and will be making his much anticipated debut at UFC: Macau. He will be taking on Roland Delorme, the same guy Tanaka faced in his freshman appearance in the Octagon.
Delorme will be the much more experienced fighter having been in the UFC since 2011, where he has gone 3-2 with 1 no contest. The TUF veteran has wins over Nick Denis and Edwin Figueroa, but will likely be fighting for his UFC career after dropping his last two to highly regarded fighters such as Tanaka and Alex Caceres.
