UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov: 'I want five rounds with Donald Cerrone'

After Donald Cerrone's destruction of Jim Miller, fellow UFC lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov wants a main event bout with "Cowboy".

It didn't take long for Khabib Nurmagomedov to ask for a fight with Donald Cerrone. Nurmagomedov went to Twitter today following last night's KO win for Cerrone over Jim Miller at UFC Fight Night in New Jersey.

Nurmagomedov last fought in April, winning a clear unanimous decision over Rafael dos Anjos, who holds a win over Cerrone less than a year ago. The 25-year-old is a perfect 22-0 in his career, with 6 of those wins coming in the UFC.

As I opined earlier today, I'd love to see Cerrone vs. Nurmagomedov happen ASAP, and it should be five rounds. So that means it either has to be a Fox main event or Fox Sports 1, because even if this fight materializes and is put on a PPV co-main, that means it's only a three-rounder, and I can't get behind that.

From the standpoint of entertainment value combined with relevance to the top of the division, this appears to be the best fight to make right now. Hopefully the UFC grants Nurmagomedov's request, as Cerrone himself said pre-fight that he'd fight Khabib, but of course he'll fight just about anyone.
