An intriguing rematch has between scheduled to take place at Bellator 123 in September, as featherweight champion Pat Curran meets Patricio Freire in the main event of the evening.
Although Bellator officials are yet to make a formal announcement regarding the title fight, the news was revealed by Combate.com and later confirmed by MMAFighting.com.
Curran has been through a turbulent year in his professional career, as he lost his title to Daniel Straus last November after twice defending the title since winning it in 2012. He would later regain the championship in stunning fashion at Bellator 112, as he finished Straus with 14 seconds left in the five round fight.
Since losing a split decision to Curran at Bellator 85 back in January, 2013, Frieire has picked up four consecutive wins with the promotion, including against Diego Nunes, Jared Downing and Justin Wilcox. Three of those four wins came by T/KO.
Bellator 123 takes place on September 5 at the Mohegan Sun Arena, Uncasville, Connecticut, United States.
