The body attack of Canelo Alvarez seems to have turned the tide of his fight with Erislandy Lara in his favor. The fight, broadcast on Showtime pay-per-view, saw Alvarez recover from a slow start by turning up the heat on Lara, working heavy to the body and using that to open shots to the head.
Lara would suffer a nasty cut after an angling uppercut snapped his head back. While it doesn't appear to be something that will stop the fight at this point, it is deep and could cause vision problems for Lara.
Canelo spent round nine still applying pressure, but Lara did find some spots to throw shots and do a little damage.
Lara went down in round nine, causing a loud reaction from the fans, but it was ruled a slip so there was no extra advantage gained on the card for Canelo.
It's Canelo surging as we head to the final three rounds of the fight.
