UFC Fight Night Albuquerque results: John Dodson forces doctor's stoppage against John Moraga after vicious knee

A late flurry in the 2nd round busted up John Moraga and may have sealed another title shot for John Dodson.

Andrew Richardson-USA TODAY Spor

UFC flyweight contender John Dodson has been one of the most lethal finishers in the division (or in any weight class), and he became the first man to force a KO/TKO against John Moraga.

Dodson made MMA history by becoming the first man to sprint around the cage after being hit in the balls. Aside from that, he took round 1 with his striking and ability to evade any sort of offense from Moraga. The 2nd round was a bit better from Moraga as he took advantage of his longer reach and Dodson's own inactivity. All of that was wiped away when Dodson unleashed a furious attack that forced Moraga to retreat. Dodson threw a brutal knee that had Moraga hurt and reaching for his nose right away, and while Moraga survived the round, the doctor came in to check on (what is likely) a broken nose and made the call to stop the fight. Official Result: John Dodson def. John Moraga via TKO (doctor's stoppage) at 5:00 of round 2.

It's Dodson's (16-6) 5th win in the UFC and his 4th by stoppage, and the only thing preventing Dodson from a title fight against either Demetrious Johnson or Ali Bagautinov is the UFC saying "no". Moraga (14-3) has lost 2 of 3 and leaves Albuquerque with a severely damaged nose.
