It appears that the grapefruit-sized swelling that Brendan Schaub suffered on his face after his UFC 174 bout was nothing more than a cosmetic injury.

Schaub revealed the news on his twitter account, where he informed fans that doctors had cleared him immediately.

Schaub took part in a heavyweight clash against former UFC champion Andrei Arlovski, The contest was far from entertaining, yet the third round saw Schaub's face swell up to twice its original size, even though he was in control for the majority of the round on the ground.

He would go on to lose the fight in a questionable decision.

Arlovski was making his return to the UFC after a six-year stint away from the promotion. During that time away, he collected an 8-5 (1NC) record, including a two-fight winning streak that prompted his return.  Schaub was looking to add to his two-fight winning streak, and notch a win over a former heavyweight champion.
