British welterweight Michael Page improved to 6-0 with an emphatic 1st round KO (4:29) of Ricky Rainey to open up the Bellator 120 PPV main card. Billed as cocky, brash, exuberant, and a vicious striker, Page just about embarrassed Rainey over the course of the fight. He was winding up on bolo punches, looking away from his opponent, dancing around, but consistently avoiding Rainey's strikes and landing his. Page was not short on spinning backfists, flashy kicks, and general violence. Rainey seemed utterly frustrated by Page, whose showboating showed what little respect for him as an opponent, but there was nothing he could do about it. The crowd did boo Page's showboating but they cheered when he finished Rainey off with a thudding right hand that required no follow-up punches. Referee Kevin MacDonald called the bout off and Page celebrated another finish.
In the Bellator heavyweight tournament final, Alexander Volkov sealed his rematch vs. champion Vitaly Minakov with a 2nd round (1:08) rear-naked choke of Blagoi Ivanov. After a bit of a slow opening round dictated by Ivanov, Volkov was caught in a body lock and taken down, but Volkov swiftly turned things around by taking Ivanov's back and sinking in the RNC for the victory. Volkov lost his belt to Minakov last year by TKO, and he's earned the chance to win it back.
