In a special conference call, Bellator confirmed the earlier reports that Eddie Alvarez had pulled out of his LW title defense against Michael Chandler. They've already worked out a replacement opponent, as recent tournament winner Will Brooks will face Chandler for the interim strap next Saturday night. This fight will remain as the main event over Rampage-King Mo and Ortiz-Shlemenko, and the card will still be on PPV. UPDATE: Bellator has confirmed via press release that Quinton Jackson vs. King Mo Lawal is the new main event. Chandler-Brooks is the co-main.
Brooks (13-1) breezed through the season 9 lightweight tourney after a shocking KO loss to Saad Awad in the previous season. He was due to face Nate Jolly as a "stay busy fight" on the main card before his scheduled title shot. Now he's getting his title shot on a week's notice, albeit for the interim belt. Bellator officials are still trying to find a replacement for Jolly, but prospects seem bleak at the moment.
So as it stands, this is the Bellator 120 main card:
Quinton Jackson vs. Muhammed Lawal
Michael Chandler vs. Will Brooks
Tito Ortiz vs. Alexander Shlemenko
Michael Page vs. Ricky Rainey
Alexander Volkov vs. Blagoi Ivanov
