Phil Davis gave his thoughts to Combate.com about Jon Jones's recent statements questioning the lack of fights between the top contenders of his division. According to "Mr. Wonderful", the UFC light heavyweight champion doesn't want to fight him or two other possible challengers.

Jones is avoiding being crushed. He is avoiding to fight me, avoiding to fight Daniel Cormier and definitely avoiding to fight Alexander Gustafsson. He's running fast, he's not even hiding anymore. If you don't want to fight Gustafsson, fight me! We (Davis and Gustafsson) are training partners, I will beat you and this won't be much. It's fair to everyone.

Davis also responded to UFC president Dana White saying that he doesn't want to fight for the title.

It was a misunderstanding. I said something he mistook it. We will settle this. I will win on Saturday and we will talk after that, so he will be sure of this: Phil wants to fight for the belt today, tomorrow and after tomorrow. He will notice that I want to fight for the title. Maybe I will challenge someone if I win.

Davis will face Anthony Johnson this Saturday at UFC 172. "Bones" will headline the card defending his belt for the seventh time, now against Glover Teixeira.
