Top Prospects to Watch this Weekend

Here are some of the better prospects in action this weekend.

Inka Fighting Championships - 16 Apr - Miraflores, Lima, Peru

Ben Reiter (13-0-1) vs. Danilo Pereira (23-10)

Age: 26

Height: 5'11

I saw reports last week that Reiter signed with Bellator, so I wouldn't be surprised if this fight doesn't happen. Reiter is a New York native who had a brief stint on the University of Pennsylvania wrestling team. Since turning his attention to MMA all but one of his fights have been in Peru. His toughest opponent to date was Marcos Rogerio de Lima a Strikeforce veteran, who he battled to a draw.

Cage Warriors FC - 18 Apr - Amman, Jordan

Kurban Gadzhiev (6-0) vs. Phil Harris (22-12)

Gadzhiev gets the biggest test of his young career when he meets recent UFC veteran Phil Harris. Kurban is a master of sport in Sambo, and has won world championships in Pankration trains with the K Dojo Warrior Tribe, that is home to UFC fighters such as Albert Tumenov, and Alexander Yakovlev.

Gadzhiev vs. Taras

Arnold Allen (6-0) vs. Tobias Huber (5-4)

Age: 20

Height: 5'9

Allen has stopped five of his six opponents so far in his brief career. He has a amateur boxing and kickboxing background, but has adapted his natural athletic ability very well to MMA. He is very aggressive with at hunting for submissions, sometimes to the point that he gives up dominant position. With just a little refinement he will be UFC ready in the near future, and could be a serious contender in a few years.

Allen vs. Green

CFFC - 19 Apr - Morristown, NJ

Sean Santella (13-3-1) vs. Nick Honstein (14-7)

Age: 29

Height: 5'5

Rumors are that Santella has actually been offered a UFC short notice fight recently, but had to turn it down due to injuries. A win here would likely score him a UFC contract, as many thought he would be one of the first guys to get a chance at the UFC when they added the Flyweight division over two years ago, now. He has a wrestling background, that he mixes with very good BJJ and submission skills from on top, or off his back.

Review from last week:

RFA - 11 Apr - Cheyenne, WY

Mark Dickman (9-1) submitted Raoni Barcelos (7-1) to pick up his 4th straight stoppage win, and earn a shot at the RFA FW title.

Matt Manzanares (7-2) picked up a SD victory Junior Maranhao (9-3) in a fight that has become very controversial for not being stopped after Maranhao collapsed in between the 4th and 5th rounds.

Cage Warriors FC - 12 Apr - Swansea, Wales

Brett Johns (10-0) picked up a clear decision win over James Brum (14-3) but still lost his CWFC BW title, by missing weight.

Circuito Talent MMA - 12 Apr - Valinhos, Sao Paulo, Brazil

Davi Ramos (4-0) used a first round armbar to submit Claudiere Freitas (10-11).

Battle for the Border 3 - 12 Apr - Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada

Smealinho Rama (7-1) vs. Tony Lopez (33-14) was cancelled, but there are reports that Rama will fight UFC veteran Tim Hague in May.

Nitrix Champion Fight - 13 Apr - Joinville, Santa Catarina, Brazil

Sheymon Moraes (6-0) showed his extensive Muay Thai background, by landing a quick standing elbow to dispatch Felipe Alves (14-14) in the 1st round.

I'm not perfect, if I've missed a prospect let me know in the comments section.
