UFC featherweight Jim Alers won an exciting debut bout against fellow newcomer Alan Omer, and he had a very specific fighter in mind for his next fight.

The 2nd fight on the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night Abu Dhabi produced a thriller, as Floridian featherweight Jim Alers scored a tight split decision win over fellow debutant Alan Omer. Alers improves to 13-1 in his MMA career and extends his winning streak to 9.

In the post-fight interview with cageside analyst Dan Hardy, Alers was asked who he wanted to fight next, and he had one man in mind: Conor McGregor.

"I want one guy," Alers said. "McGregor I'm coming for you."

McGregor is likely fighting Cole Miller at UFC Fight Night in Dublin on July 19th.

An interesting side note that some fans may not know is that Alers, the former Cage Warriors featherweight champion, was scheduled to fight McGregor on two separate occasions. The first scrapped bout was in September 2012, when McGregor, then the featherweight champ, pulled out with an injury. A re-booking was made for New Year's Eve a few months later, but Alers was forced out with an injured hand. McGregor vacated the FW belt soon after and won the lightweight title.

We might not necessarily get Alers vs. McGregor in the near future, but if we do, it'll certainly be a case of "unfinished business" between these two young standouts.
